Plan Parties Like A Pro

We love planning events. More importantly, we love taking the stress of planning events away from you! In this post, we’re sharing our favorite insider tips for party prep with you so you can throw parties like a pro!

  1. Make a plan. Whether you’re having a couple friends over for dinner or throwing a party for fifty people, you’ve got to make a plan. Budgets, menus, décor, guest lists and grocery shopping lists are just the start. We also advise making lists of the dishes and utensils you plan to use, thinking about seating, and planning your theme in advance. That way you know what you need to buy, make or borrow – and you’ve got plenty of time to make it happen!
  2. Buy some, make some, borrow some. Imagine making an entire five-course meal, mixing custom drinks, forming elaborate tabletop bouquets by hand, and greeting every guest by name as they arrive – are you exhausted yet? Yeah, that’s what we thought. Don’t try to do everything on your own or you’ll be worn out before the doorbell even rings. Consider making the entrée and purchasing the sides; going pot-luck; or ordering your entire meal catered. Enlist a friend or family to man the bar for you. Get your girlfriends to help you with the tablescapes. Prioritize what’s most important to you and then delegate the rest of the tasks so you can enjoy the party, too!
  3. Stroll down the aisles of the local thrift shop or Goodwill. Pick up glassware, serving dishes, silver chafing dishes, fun knick-knacks and so much more at your local thrift shop! Wash, polish, or paint, and you’ve got an incredible tablescape for pennies on the dollar.
  4. Get creative. When it comes to dinner party format, think outside the box. The goal is for everyone to 1) eat delicious food and b) have fun visiting with each other. So who said every dinner party had to consist of meat, vegetables, and dessert? Consider a snack-bar buffet, breakfast for dinner, a cook-out, customize-your-own-pasta, make-your-own-pizza and much more. Or have everyone over for dessert after a show. The possibilities are endless!
